The West Side is one of the largest districts in Gotham. It’s typically lower-middle class, though there are some streets and areas that are nicer than others. Most of the living spaces are apartment-style housing, and while you’re not going to see new, polished floors, you shouldn’t have to worry about falling through them; the East End is known for being sleazy and run-down, but it’s far more livable than some other places.
-
- Contains Gotham’s largest red light district, and has the most pimps and prostitution out of any other place in the city.
-
- It’s safe during the day and kids can walk around freely for the most part, but it’s inadvisable to stay out after dark.
-
- One of the most active areas in Gotham in terms of cop presence. -- -
-
- Instead of going after dangerous criminals, most cops would rather arrest prostitutes and get easy paychecks. Catwoman has been known to
-
interfere and prevent these arrests.
-
- There are a lot of smaller gangs based in the East End. You won’t find a
-
ton of Italian Mafia activity here despite its proximity to Little Italy, but the Dimitrov Family and the Odessa Mob have a big presence.
-
- Has a stray cat problem.
WEST DISTRICT 4 (LITTLE ITALY)
This is the southern half of WS4. The Mafia owns Little Italy. They always have and— most likely— they always will. Right now the reigning Capo is Carmine “The Roman” Falcone, and it would be unwise to attract the attention of his family, or the other four. There are a lot of lower class areas, but about 25% of the district is middle class housing, and 10% is upper class. The Mafia takes care of its people.
-
- Has a large population of Sicilian immigrants.
-
- The streets always smell like garlic— in a good way.
-
- The vigilante Huntress has been known to prowl the rooftops here.
-
- The second most religious area in Gotham. The first is Coventry, and the third is the part of the Bowery that’s Irish Mob territory.
-
- You don’t speak about the Mafia, whether you’re involved in it or not— for safety reasons.
